2008 Dominican Republic Fantasy Baseball Camp
Dates: December 8-14, 2008
Join us for a week of competitive baseball in the baseball paradise and home of over 100 current Major League baseball players including Sammy Sosa, Pedro Martinez, Albert Pujols, Miguel Tejada, Alfonso Soriano, ….and many, many more.
The competition will take place at the premier baseball facility in the country, “Baseball City” , located only 15 minutes from the Santo Domingo airport and your beachfront all inclusive hotel, The Hamaca. Only a few years old, Las Americas has state of the art baseball facilities while maintaining the Caribbean feel of the Dominican's number one sport.
Modern passenger vans will transport you to and from the Hamaca and the academy. The all inclusive hotel will feature a wide selection for breakfast and dinner while lunch will be served at the Las Americas Academy. Visitors from around the world including the U.S. , Canada and Europe frequent the popular Hamaca hotel during this wonderful time of year in the Caribbean .
You will be coached by bilingual former professional Dominican players. There will be surprise guest instructors each day. The week will not only provide an insight into Dominican baseball, but will also give you a much better understanding of the many trials and challenges young Dominican baseball players must endure before ever having a chance to play on United States fields.
We will attend actual Dominican Winter League baseball games where the flags will be waving, bands will be playing and the cheerleaders will be dancing on the dugouts. You will be able to watch current Major Leaguers play and get a feel for just how much this small country in the Caribbean loves the game of baseball.
